Sugar-free whip cream is a great low carb treat to enjoy on its own or to make pretty much any dessert or hot drink 100x better. Once you’ve mastered this crazy-delicious 2-ingredient sugar-free whipped cream recipe, you will be making it on a weekly basis.
Since starting the keto diet almost a year ago, I’ve been trying out various low carb desserts and treats recipes. One thing I found many of them had in common was that no matter what I did, they never tasted as moist as ‘the real thing’. Luckily, I quickly discovered a simple remedy to that problem.
Keto whipped cream!
This keto topping just makes every dessert taste so much better. Plus, it’s really fatty (5.5 g fats per serving) so it will help ensure you hit your daily fat macros.
The best part about this keto heavy whipping cream dessert is that it tastes just like real whipped cream. Seriously, you won’t even be able to tell the difference!
So without further ado, let’s find out how to make sugar free whipped cream!

Can you have whip cream on keto?
Heavy whip cream is a great food to consume on the keto diet as it’s extremely high in fats and low in net carbs.
Is heavy whipping cream the same as heavy cream?
They are virtually the same thing and you can swap them out for one another quite easily.
Can you make whipped cream with stevia?
Yes, but stevia has a bitter aftertaste that some people taste more than others. Unfortunately, I’m one of those people who really dislike the aftertaste Stevia has. That is why I choose to use sweeteners like Erythritol and Swerve that don’t have a bitter taste and contain no net carbs.
Why not just buy canned whipped cream?
You certainly can, but have you ever had a look on the ingredient list on those canned creams? Because they have to have such a long shelf life, they’re often stuffed full of nasty chemicals that you really don’t want to put in your body.
If you make your own keto whip cream, you will know exactly what’s in it! Plus, fresh always tastes soo much better! But if you really don’t want to be bothered making your own, find out which canned whipped cream is best for keto!
What’s the best heavy whipping cream brand for keto?
There is no specific brand that’s best, just make sure you choose one with a high fat content (35% or more) and the ingredient list is as short as possible!
My favorite heavy whipping cream brand for keto is this one.

Low carb whipped cream shopping list
- Heavy Whipping Cream – Choose one with at least 30% fat content for best results.
- Sweetener – I love using Swerve when making keto whipped cream. Why? It doesn’t have any bitter aftertaste like stevia, it measures exactly like sugar so you use it 1:1 and it won’t affect your blood sugar levels. You can use any carb-free sweetener you have, some other great ones are Erythritol and Monkfruit.
- Optional: Vanilla Essence – if you have it, use a tiny bit for extra flavor, if you don’t have it at home, don’t stress, just leave it out.
How to make keto whipped cream:
- Take a clean bowl and pour 1/2 cup cold (not frozen thought) heavy whipping cream and 1 tsp swerve sweetener into it. (If you wish to add the vanilla essence, add that in now too)
- Begin whipping the cream with your hand mixer, starting on slow and bringing the speed to medium once the cream thickens slightly.
- Whip the cream until soft peaks begin to form. This should take around 4-6 minutes.
- You can either serve this as is or transfer into a sealed container and store in your fridge for up to 3 days.

What if I don’t have an electric hand mixer?
Just use a whisk! This will take a bit longer but it’s a mini workout and really not that hard to do.
Or you could use a little cheap nifty manual cream whipper like this:
